Essential Oils for Horses- CALM

CALM Essential Oil Roller combines a range of pure essential oils for horses and riders. This Flower Aromatic™ blend combines the synergistic properties of Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Rosewood and Bergamot pure essential oils to create a wonderful sense of calm.

In order to understand how we can use equine aromatherapy to reduce stress in horses, we must first understand what stress is and how it manifests. Stress is not just a mental phenomenon that produces behavioural problems.  It is a physical response to perceived danger, whether the harm is an immediate danger, such as a predator, change of home, or something that upsets the body's healthy balance, such as confinement or inappropriate food.  The "stress response" is a physiological cascade, triggered by anything perceived as a threat - physical or emotional, real or imagined.

Essential oils work fast and have a wide range of actions, and can act as a sedative, nerve tonic, immune stimulant, relaxant and soother.  Almost all essential oils reduce stress and increase immune responsiveness, working simultaneously on body mind and spirit.

How to use the essential calming oil roller:

Humans:

Make a small clockwise circle with the roller ball on the inside of both your wrists.

Inhale the beautiful aroma as often as you like directly from the roller bottle or from your wrists.

Horses:

We use Endorphin Release Points to help a horse relax.

Use the diagram below to make a small clockwise circle with the roller ball on each Endorphin Release Point, then gently massage these areas with your ring finger in a clockwise circular motion.  Essential oils are always used in a calm and gentle manner - you do not have to use a lot to see a reaction from your horse.

ONLY if your horse show positive interest in the oil, such as a willingness to continue inhalation of the oil and/or visible relaxation, then you can continue to the next step.

Remember to breathe, relax and enjoy the time spend with your horse.

Endorphin Release Points:

A. Present the oil to your horse for inhalation only. ONLY if your horse show positive interest in the oil, such as a willingness to continue inhalation of the oil and/or visible relaxation, then you can continue to the next step.

B. Jowls both sides

C. Use roller as and brush upwards over tip of ears,  then use the back of your hand and softly brush over tips of ears.

D. Above eye in circular motion.

E. In front of withers.

F.  Both sides of pole in circular motion.

G. Top of tail dock in circular motion.

Move Buttons:

Using the back of your hand at these buttons,  apply gentle pressure to cue your horse to move over while opposite hand hold the halter.  Release as soon as your horse move or shift his weight.  If your horse doe not understand these movements do not force it just hold your hand firmly but gentle on the spot.  These holds and movements will allow the energetic flow.  Remember to do this both sides of your horse.

FAQs

Very calming for the rider!

I love this product!! And I love that it's something my horse and I can share!! I have used it myself multiple times, and I do find it calms my nerves and helps me focus. I might have to keep this one for myself going into Year 12 and buy another one for my horse :)
